  Bereavement Services
Bereavement support and education is available for any child, adult or family in need of grief support or services at no cost to families.  Hospice serves family members of Hospice patients for thirteen months after the death of their loved one.  Additionally, our services are extended to many individuals and families from the community, whose loved ones have not been hospice patients.  Hospice of Queen Anne’s provide bereavement counseling and services in several ways.

Individual or Family Bereavement
Visits from our bereavement coordinator can be conducted in your home or at the Hospice Center, or wherever  it is convenient.  People who are grieving often need to talk, and may need information about the normal grief process.

Adult Grief Management Classes
Classes meet once a week for eight to ten weeks.  There is nothing like sharing with others who are going through the same thing.  Contact Hospice of Queen Anne’s at 443-262-4100 for the dates of the next sessions.

Hospice Library
A library of books, audio cassettes, and videos are available to borrow to help you understand what grief is and how to live with it.

Follow-Up Calls
Trained bereavement volunteers are available for phone calls or visit as a
listening friend.

Camp New Dawn
Camp New Dawn is our annual weekend bereavement camp for children and teens who have experienced the death of a loved one.  It is a two night camp that strives to help kids understand grief, realize they are not alone and help them cope with their loss in a positive, safe environment.

Camp Sunrise
Camp Sunrise is a bereavement retreat for families, dealing with a death.
This is held every other year in collaboration with several other Eastern
Shore hospice organizations.

School-Based Grief Support
If there are several students in a school who have experienced the death of
a loved one, a group can be formed by the school guidance counselor and
the Hospice of Queen Anne’s Bereavement Coordinator.  This group would meet weekly for several weeks during or after school to educate students about grief and offer peer support.
